Frame can't change anytime but doors can change anytime so for this reason frame have to strong and qualityfull. Actually frames are the strongest part of a door, which is usually clamped with brick wall with clamps, if the frame is wider than 4", 3 clamps for each side and one for the top. Thickness and width of the frame is usually 2.25" x 5.75". It has three parts. Two side parts are usually in the same length of seven feet. Top part of the frame is flexible in length, Minimum is 2.5' and maximum goes up to 10'. 3 parts are clamped together with a dovetail joint, top right and top left. Before we make the delivery, we usually stamp four braces to the frame to stabilize two angles at 90 degrees, top, middle and the bottom of the is stamped at the same width. Entrance part of the frame is usually decorated with the design bit, in the inner part of the frame which makes the frame look decorated and safer, in case someone bumps their head into it. 45 degree joints at the top right, and the to left with dovetail fitting stamp with few nails and glue make the frame very strong and sharp looking. Exit part of the frame where the shutter usually installed has a grove in it. All the way around from left bottom to the right bottom, 0.5" x 1.5". This grove has one purpose mainly. When the door is shut locked, no burglar can enter the premises without breaking the door. One side of the frame holds the shutter with four to five hinges. Sometimes even six, depending on the size and the weight of the door. Other side of the shutter usually has a door lock or a hatch bolt from the inside of the premises. Two types of frames are usually made, depending on the thickness and width. One type is 6 x 2.5,and the other is 11 x 2.5, and after finishing size will 5.75 x 2.25,and the other is 10.75 x 2.25, is usually used for decorative entrance door, and 5.75' can be used for both (entrance and internal doors). These frames are mainly made by using - Mahogani, Barma Teak, Chittagong Shilkorai, Teak Chamble, Chittagong Teak and Loha Kath
As we know, Mahogani from Jessore is the best than any other Mahogani in the country. Basically, Mahogany timber from other districts has irregular fiber which looks indecent, color usually get faded, the difference between pal and matured part of the timber has distinct different colors and it take longer time to get the maturity. Trees planted without proper planning usually bottom part of the tree get lot wider than the top part, where the production capacity usually get less.Mahogani in Jessore is harvested and maintained scientifically because of the quality usually get better. Since the farmers harvest them properly and take a good care of them, so they come up with a very good profit.
Chittagong Shill karai only grows in Chittagong, color may get little darker or lighter due to the geographical location of Chittagong, but they sustain the same high quality. If it grows in any other district besides Chittagong is called Kali-Karai. Quality is lot inferior, it bends, twist and fiber is not so descent. Chittagong Shill-Karai got to be free of pal, pal will not only be attached by termite, also will be peeled of after very short time. Other problems with Shill-Karai is, you cannot make any door out of it, because it is so heavy and color is so dark.
Chittagong Shegun grows in Chittagong, quality and fiber is very good, its pal is harmless if properly seasoned below 14% moisture content. For some obvious reason, we don’t harvest the big shegun trees, only the small and the medium size, that’s why we don’t get high quality shegun from Chittagong. We collect Chittagong teak with 2-3% pal, but from other places we collect shegun from 20-30% pal. Chittagong Shegun pals don’t be attacked by termites, but since the pals are lighter in color, they expose after we polish them. If clients are financially solvent, we usually advise them to purchase Burma teak for much higher quality and outlook.
Burma Teak grows in Burma, and we import them. We use A grade Burma teak with natural fiver. Burma Teak is the best timber available for door, frame and furniture. Those who earns good money and want to buy good quality door and frame wise to invest in Burma teak. There is no other compare to this timber.
Now these days, we import Teak Chambul from Burma. We use to collect teak chambul from Chittagong and the quality was much superior. Quality of Burma teak chambul is good for frame but not for doors.
